Joomla is maybe the second most popular Content Management System (CMS) after WordPress. This week the latest stable version of Joomla 3.4 was released and it comes with new long awaited features. The regular users can now enjoy the available front end module editing. The Joomla developers can take advantage of the Composer integration with the latest Joomla version.
Here is a brief description of the new Joomla 3.4 features.
Front-End module editing:
With this long awaited feature now super users can access module settings directly from front end. Up to this moment this was only available in the main Administrator back end area of Joomla. This will significantly improve the workflow of most Joomla administrators as there will be less switching from front end to back end for simple tweaks and fixes.
New Google reCAPTCHA:
The recent Google introduction of CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA API in December 2014 is now part of Joomla 3.4.With this updated feature the reCAPTCHA plugin will now protect better your login and registration forms against spam. The previous reCAPTCHA was using some times hard to read text strings to prove that your visitors are not bots. However with the updated reCAPTCHA your site visitors can now attest they are human without having to solve a CAPTCHA. Instead with just a single click they will confirm they are not a robot.
Joomla! has always been developers friendly application. However Joomla! 3.4 improved that even further and now comes with pre-integrating Composer into the CMS. This new feature is developers oriented and it is already praised by many Joomla developers as a a very good move to increase the number of new developers for Joomla!
In the previous stable release of Joomla 3.0 was brought a new bootstrapped look to the Joomla admin interface and one of the major improvements was an increase in usable screen area in the Joomla backend. This new feature was welcomed by all of the Joomla users and now Joomla 3.4 takes this a step further by making the Extension Sidebar menu collapsible for both a mobile device and a full screen display.
Those are the main new features of Joomla 3.4. However if you are interested in more detailed information about the latest Joomla! 3.4 release you can check their official website:
